Each individual packet of EQUAL includes an easy-open plastic envelope, a filter-tipped valve stem, and a yellow donut ring that goes on the valve stem. The donut alerts tire technicians that the polymer has been injected into the tire.

An EQUAL Tire Performance applicator unit has a built-in regulator, an air moisture block, and pressure gauge for incoming air pressure. The tire specialist adjusts the unit by pulling up on the regulator knob and rotating as necessary, for the correct amount of pressure needed.

Tire pressure is reduced to accommodate the dry polymer insertion by removing the existing valve core for about five seconds, then replacing the old valve stem cap to retain air pressure. The new Air X valve stem will be installed after injection of the polymer into the tire.

The difference between a "conventional" valve stem and the new EQUAL Air X filter-tipped stem is readily evident. The new stem's filter ensures that none of the polymer is able to escape out of the tire.

The dry granular polymer is poured into the applicator, ready for installation.

The valve stem cap is removed and the EQUAL installer quickly slides on the quick-disconnect from the installation device. The polymer fills the tire within a few seconds.

After the polymer has been installed, a new EQUAL Air X filtered valve core is quickly installed so that no polymer can escape.

Check air pressure. Most truck tires take a little more than 32 pounds to run properly. With EQUAL you can still lower air pressure for off-road situations.

The final step is to place a yellow O-ring on the valve stem to alert tire technicians that EQUAL has been installed into the tires. It's also an indication that you are in for a smoother, quieter ride.
