Description:
In 2004, Cadillac spun its own sports car off the Chevrolet Corvette, creating the brand’s highest performance model to date. Despite the initial excitement and corporate chest pounding, the XLR has settled in to being a low-volume, niche vehicle. (This past May, Cadillac sold just 94 XLRs.) For 2009, Cadillac is focusing the line up on the two most-exclusive XLR versions, while making modest updates. The most visible changes to the retractable hardtop roadster are a new front fascia, rear fascia, and side fender vents--updates that keep styling in line with the new CTS. The front fascia includes new fog lamps and specific upper and lower grilles for the Platinum and V-Series models. Also, both '09 models feature the distinctive hood with a raised center section that was previously exclusive to the V-Series. Platinum model is further distinguished with more pronounced exhaust tips and a new 18-inch wheel design. The XLR Platinum is equipped with a 4.6-liter, 320-horsepower Northstar V-8 engine, while the XLR-V is powered with a 4.4-liter, 443-horsepower supercharged Northstar V-8 engine. The updated cabin includes new instrument cluster trim rings and graphics, and new wood grain trims.
