2004 Lincoln Town Car luxury sedan front exterior photo

The Lincoln Town Car has become the icon of American luxury. Not only does it offer opulent transportation for the private-party owner, it's a stalwart of the limousine industry. In some form or another, a Town Car has liveried many Americans to or from the prom, a wedding or an airport.

A hydroformed frame gives the car great rigidity for reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).

The 2004 Town Car offers more of what's distinctive about a Lincoln, retaining the large sedan profile and certainly the sizeable Lincoln front grille. There is no mistaking this for any automobile other than a Lincoln. Redesigned for 2003, the Town Car has raised the bar on American luxury and capability. First and foremost, the suspension provides for firmer handling, more along the lines of a European feel. However, the Town Car still retains the ride comfort that the American luxury-car buyer demands—it's just better than ever.

A hydroformed frame gives the car excellent rigidity. This provides two major benefits: reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) and a more stable platform for chassis engineering. Lincoln's commercial-livery experience has made it more attuned to NVH than some other marques, so its internal standard is accordingly high. Furthermore, this solid foundation gave the company's chassis engineers a clean sheet for designing improved steering, suspension and braking systems. The result is a comfortable yet better responding vehicle.

Under the hood sits the brawny power of an American V-8. The power of Ford's 4.6-liter, single overhead cam V-8 produces 239 horsepower and 287 lb.-ft. of torque. Although it may not have the most horsepower in its class, the Town Car performs just fine, thank you. This V-8 is coupled to an electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmission, combining to make a smooth and harmonious drivetrain that chauffeurs have come to expect.

The new Town Car fills the bill for comfort and space, offering an incredibly roomy passenger cabin.

Comfort and space are two of the major attributes that are on Town Car owners' lists of must-haves in their cars. The new Town Car fills the bill, offering an incredibly roomy passenger cabin and more than enough interior storage space.
