2003 Ford F-150 Series Pickup
Going long, going strong

Although the current model F-150's design has gotten a bit long in the tooth—and the redesigned 2004 model is on the horizon—the 2003 F-150 truck is still very popular and competitive. Ford sells more F-150s than any other truck or car in America, so their huge volume allows dealers to discount these trucks enticingly. This is particularly true if the model with most of the features you're seeking is sitting on your dealer's lot—and now may be a particularly good time to check one out.
Both Regular and SuperCab pickup trucks allow you to choose between Flareside and Styleside (stepside) beds with either 6.5- or 8-foot beds.
Fords have a reputation for being tough, reliable performers. Personalization is popular with pickups today. Although many are still workhorses, a heavy level of feature availability makes them popular as everyday, dual-use vehicles. To suit buyers, the Ford catalog lists a staggering number of accessories and upgrades, more than ever for 2003—and that's before you look at all the available equipment the aftermarket offers. Both Regular and SuperCab pickup trucks allow you to choose between Flareside and Styleside (stepside) beds with either 6.5- or 8-foot beds. An optional easy-to-use, flip-over bed extender helps make up the difference. There's also a choice of two- or four-wheel-drive.
For 2003, Ford added interest with new trim levels and upgrade packages: a Heritage Edition F-150 commemorating 100 years of Ford trucks and the STX package for the Regular Cab and SuperCab XL and XLT. Existing limited edition F-150s that'll soldier on in 2003 include the supercharged 380-horsepower SVT Lightning Regular Cab and the 340-horse (also supercharged) Harley-Davidson SuperCab model.
There's even more. The FX4 4x4 off-road package (introduced last year) is a Super Cab with oversized LT265/70R17all-terrain tires. The classy King Ranch variant with Castano saddlebag-like leather interior returns in both SuperCab and SuperCrew (four full, outside-opening doors, five seats) variations. New features on it as well as Lariat-trimmed F-150s include a heated rear window and new CD players on the sound systems.
Improvements for 2003 include decreased noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), so F-150 cabins are about 10 percent quieter than last year.
Across-the-board improvements for 2003 include decreased noise, vibration and harshness (NVH). As a result, F-150 cabins are about 10 percent quieter than last year. Child LATCH anchors are now standard, and Burgundy Red Clearcoat Metallic joins the exterior color chart for 2003.
