The upgraded interior boasts a new instrument panel with graphics by Italian luxury designer Bvlgari.
Also new for '03 are standard heated outside mirrors with power-tilt, power folding, left-side electrochromic glass, "puddle" lights, turn-signal indicators and a memory feature. New standard high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps, because they generate more light per watt, use less electrical energy and run cooler than conventional lamps.
The upgraded interior boasts a new instrument panel with graphics by Italian luxury designer Bvlgari, dual-zone climate control, European-look leather seats and a very useful set of buttons in the steering wheel spokes. Shared with GM's midsize Chevy Trailblazer and GMC Envoy midsize SUVs, these control audio system and programmable vehicle functions, the trip computer and voice recognition for the standard OnStar safety, security and communications system.
A 250-watt Bose audio system with nine tuned speakers and an in-dash 6-disc CD changer is standard, and a new Diversity Antenna System integrates signals from two separate antennas to optimize reception. Chrome halos highlight the tachometer and speedometer and a large Bvlgari analog clock in the center stack. Engine oil pressure, water temperature, battery voltage and fuel gauges are clustered to the right and a transmission oil temperature dial is lower left. A new storage compartment with a "push-push" lid is added just left of the clock.
The middle row offers standard reclining buckets or an optional bench, the second-row seats can be flipped and folded and the third-row bench can be folded flat or removed altogether.
The main console has two large cupholders, two 12V outlets and an ashtray under damped, spring-loaded lids, plus separate covered storage for maps, credit cards or a cell phone. On its rear surface are climate, audio and heated seat controls, courtesy lights, an LCD temperature display, a third 12V outlet and two more cupholders for rear-seat residents. An overhead console houses sunroof and rear AC controls, reading lamps and Homelink, and a trio of buttons programmable for garage door openers, house lights or an electric gate.
The middle row offers standard reclining buckets or an optional bench, both with heated cushions. The second-row seats can be flipped and folded and the third-row bench folded flat or removed, providing room for 4x8 panels with the liftgate closed. Headroom is fine but legroom a trifle tight in the way-back row.
