2002 Ford Focus Sedan
Fun in a four-door from a worldwide leader

Launched for the 2000 model year as a stylish, European-inspired replacement for the subcompact Escort, the Ford Focus rapidly became one of the most popular cars in the world. It's also one of the most chameleonic, with a varied set of personalities and virtues.
Top dog in the Focus sedan family is the ZTS. Up-level touches include the rear spoiler and 16-inch aluminum wheels.
For 2002, the Focus family offers varying body styles (three-, four-, and five-door; hatchback, sedan and wagon), three engine-output levels, and two transmissions. Youthful in orientation, the Focus actually appeals to a diverse audience, undoubtedly because of its flexibility. All Focus models flaunt more styling flair than some of their small-car competitors, but sedans and station wagons are more conservative in tone.
Built in Wayne, Michigan alongside Focus wagons, the four-door sedans are available in five main flavors: LX, LX Premium, SE, SE Comfort, and sporty ZTS. Across-the-board changes for the 2002 model year are modest. Heading the list is an optional in-dash 6-CD changer. Further, most models get a rear-seat map pocket, cupholders were modified to accept larger cups, a power moonroof is available on all Focus body styles, and a new Personal Safety System adjusts airbag deployment for front occupants, depending on conditions during a crash.
Focus sedans are powered by 2.0-liter inline fours. Base LX and midlevel SE trims get a 110-horse SOHC version. The 130-hp DOHC Zetec is optional for SEs and standard in ZTSs.
The standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine produces 110 horsepower for the base LX model. A dual-overhead-cam Zetec version, delivering 130 horsepower, is optional in the SE sedan and standard in the ZTS sedan. Either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission can be installed. (The base LX sedan is manual-shift only.)
Ford promises that the sedan's trunk, with a 12.9 cubic-foot capacity, can hold two standard-size suitcases. For safety, it contains a glow-in-the-dark emergency-release handle. The 60/40-split rear seatbacks fold down, while seat bottoms can "flip up" to provide a flat load floor. A relatively long wheelbase (103 inches) is supposed to help smooth the ride as well as increase interior volume. All body styles are 168.1 inches long and 56.3 inches tall, with seating for five.
